Introduction.
Fort Pond Native Plants and James C. Grimes Land Design share one address on South Embassy Street in Montauk: a garden center and a landscaping company, from a designer who started his own installation business in 1978. This concept was built without being asked, from the business’s own website. It is not client work, and the business has not hired me or endorsed it.
Challenges.
A splash page and a fixed layout.
The current site is a fixed 1024-pixel layout with no mobile version, and its homepage is a splash that asks visitors to choose a division before it tells them anything about either.
Solution.
One front door for both halves of the business.
One homepage for the garden center and the landscaping work, led by “Rooted in Montauk soil”, with Since 1978 and the native restoration work in the first screen, and a layout that works on the phone in a driveway where the decision is made.
